→ Welcome message from the Co-chairs

The ninth of the ISUILS series was held at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa in Maui, Hawaii, U.S.A. during December 9th - 13th, 2010. At the opening session, tributes were paid to the Honorary Co-chairs of the symposium, Dr. Paul Corkum, Prof. Hiroki Nakamura, and Dr. Didier Normand. We had seven scientific sessions covering the most recent topics in ultrafast intense laser science and enjoyed the presentations given by the discussion leaders and the invited speakers as well as the stimulating discussions after those presentations.

In the Sponsors' Sessions on Dec. 11th and 12th, we had presentations by six sponsor companies, Thales Optronique, Femtolasers, Fastlite, Amplitude Technologies, Coherent, and Japan Laser Corporation on their recent R&D and new products.

We believe that the attendees enjoyed not only the scientific program but the island's pleasant weather and atmosphere. On behalf of the international organizing committee of ISUILS, we would like to thank all the invited participants, all the attendees, and all the sponsor organizations and companies for having made the symposium enjoyable and successful.
